Elbit Systems Secures $50 Million Contract for Revolutionary "Red Sky" Air Defense System
The contract, awarded by an international customer, is set to be fulfilled over the next two years.
Elbit Systems Ltd., a global leader in defense technology, has announced a significant contract win, valued at approximately $50 million, for its innovative "Red Sky" air defense system. The contract, awarded by an international customer, is set to be fulfilled over the next two years.
The "Red Sky" system is a Tactical Very Short-range Air Defense (VSHORAD) System specifically engineered to safeguard against low-altitude aerial threats. In a bid to enhance defense capabilities, Elbit Systems will deliver two "Red Sky" batteries, equipped with a dual approach of soft-kill and hard-kill mechanisms.
A key component of the "Red Sky" system is the Redrone, an advanced electronic warfare (EW) solution. The Redrone system is designed for the detection, identification, location, and neutralization of unmanned aerial systems. It features the DAiR Radar, Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) sensors, an RF Jammer, and the COAPS-L electro-optical (EO) payload. Additionally, the system includes anti-aircraft missile launchers, further broadening its defensive reach.
Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land, expressed his enthusiasm about the new system, noting, "The 'Red Sky' system represents a state-of-the-art solution that addresses the urgent need to defend borders and secure strategic assets against a wide array of aerial threats at an affordable cost." He highlighted that the development of "Red Sky" was a collaborative effort across various divisions of Elbit Systems, leveraging existing technologies to create a cohesive and powerful defense solution integrated with new anti-aircraft missiles and cutting-edge soft-kill defense mechanisms.
This contract underscores Elbit Systems' commitment to innovation and its capability in addressing modern security challenges with sophisticated and integrated defense solutions.
