Before ground forces advanced, IAF fighter jets and additional aircraft targeted terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground in the central Gaza Strip.
Throughout the operation, IDF troops encountered an armed terrorist emerging from a terror tunnel near their position and entering a military facility. Swift action from an IDF fighter jet eliminated the threat as the terrorist approached the troops. Additionally, launchers were identified and located by IDF forces in the vicinity.
Simultaneously, the Israeli Navy executed targeted strikes along the coastline in the central Gaza Strip, providing support to ground troops conducting operations in the area.
According to reports the targets are among the areas where the IDF has yet to enter since the beginning of the ground operation nearly half a year ago.
Another area where the IDF has not yet entered is Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned this week that there is a specific date for action in the city, despite clear opposition from the United States.
